This weekend was a time that gave me a glimpse into something greater and something more. It was a time filled with magnificent, little moments; moments that carry on even as the time continues to pass. They were moments filled with piano playing, drinking, talking, singing and playing guitar and ukulele around the table; they were quiet and they were loud. They were beautiful. And me, in the middle of it all, almost completely out of place but in the very right place at the same time. I sit in the background to enjoy it all and I think to myself, “this is what it’s about”.

To enjoy a life of freedom and complete satisfaction to just “be there”

In every moment

Sometimes people and places give us something to hold on to and something that you don’t want to let go of but something you want to invest in and be apart of. The Up With People cast gave me that something. I want to live for these powerful times that make you feel different and make you feel better.

Even the small encounters are big.

The cast - only being around some of them for a few hours - they showed me this something. I watched them as they lived without fear in the most simple of ways. I watched them as they truly lived for each moment, without expectation of anything the last moment was. I watched them be happy to just be there.

So maybe this is what it’s all about - to just be, to simply enjoy being, and to be the light at the end of someone else's tunnel by just being there; by being awake in the moment.
